With Supermarkets, at last, driving down pump prices due to Brent Oil falling by 9% in Sterling since the beginning of February, the Government continues to say that 37m drivers see pump fill up costs reflect oil price changes within 7 weeks. But this claim is in no way reflected in the wholesale and retail data collected in the last 12 months**.

Everything about the shadowy world of the vehicle fuel supply chain has a musty repugnant smell about the way it formulates pump prices. In the last 12 months, the fuel supply chain has consciously held back wholesale changes amounting to at least £6billion*. Even ...

Sunday Times and the Sun report that George Osborne is to increase fuel duty in his July 8th Budget.

"The absolute last thing needed for our economy is for the Chancellor to destroy the hard work and confidence FairFuelUK created that showed and also endorsed by the Treasury that lower fuel prices generates jobs, lowers inflation and increases GDP. Mr Osborne’s first term rational approach to fuel duty taxation generated over £10bn of extra consumer spending power. But 98% of the 1.1m FairFuelUK supporters believe that current fuel duty levels are still too high, with 65% regrettably having no trust in Mr Osborne believing he will ...

When’s the last time you saw two government ministers having a good old go at oil companies and petrol retailers? Not recently I’ll bet. But then things have changed rather a lot in the last 12 months. Oh, and let’s not forget there’s an election looming too. This week George Osborne and Danny Alexander warned petrol retailers to quickly pass on falls in the price of crude to consumers is because the oil price has plunged 25% since June. And that fall is because the power balance in the Kingdom of Oil has changed significantly.

America is now the world’s largest producer of crude oil and ...

Howard Cox, Jason McCartney MP, Robert Halfon MPWe are delighted to say that the launch of our FairFuelUK Manifesto for Growth 2015 that highlights the Campaign Objectives listed below was a great success. Massive thanks to Jason McCartney MP (middle) and his team for sponsoring the launch in Westminster. There was a cross party turnout of 50 MPs with over 70 sending their apologies for not being able to attend but wishing good luck for the event. Every MP picked up their copy and those that did not make it had a copy put in their pigeon hole in Parliament this morning. The good news is the vast majority of these MPs ...

The Sun July 13 2014In the largest on-line annual survey of UK road users who also back the FairFuelUK campaign's fight for lower fuel prices at the pumps, it seems that the main UK Political Parties don’t seem to reconcile that alienating 32 million vehicle road users and their needs will be political lunacy. With the general election just 10 months away, political candidates and their parties really do ignore the needs of this group at their peril.

We got hold of a document from the Petroleum Industries Association about the potential impact of the European Fuel Quality Directive Article 7a on pump prices. The Article is meant to cut greenhouse gas emissions by requiring fuel suppliers (in this case refineries) to use less greenhouse-gas-intensive fuels. This has caused a big row for various reasons, focused around what is known as "differentiation" of crude oils - basically ranking different types of raw product according to how dirty they are. The PIA report says this would force pump prices up by 3p a litre.

Here's what Quentin Willson said on behalf of FairFuleUK:

'This is yet more ...

A Message from Quentin Willson: Spokesman for FairFuelUK

This isn't a good week for Government regulators. Back in September I wrote to the FSA enclosing testimony from an oil industry whistle blower who alleged that price fixing was systemic. FairFuelUK and I then met with the OFT and submitted evidence about the volatility of fuel prices and begged them to investigate oil price manipulation. Both bodies said that there was no case to answer.

I was appalled and again met with the OFT to discuss their findings. They claimed their investigation was far-reaching and they could find no case to answer. I remember ...

Quentin Willson of FairFuelUK said, ‘We are now staring into an economic abyss. There is huge frustration in households and businesses across the country that our politicians cannot see that economic growth will remain a distant dream when most families are spending the greater part of their disposable income just to fill up the family car. Hundreds of thousands of businesses that rely on vans and trucks are seeing high fuel costs destroy their margins. They cannot invest for jobs and growth. In April 2011, two years ago, the Chancellor took the bold decision to cut fuel duty by 1p. In his words, he said ...
