On behalf of all drivers in the UK, here is our take on the emissions saga! Written by lead spokesman for FairFuelUK, TV broadcaster and motoring journalist, Quentin Willson and published in the Evening Standard 28th June 2017

"As you despair at the angry rhetoric dividing our country right now you might have missed another line of division that’s fast approaching – the enforced decline of the passenger car. The recent hysterical diesel debate and the latest London Mayor’s Transport Strategy both paint a grim picture for the future of car-based mobility.  By 2041 Sadiq Khan wants 80% of all London journeys to be by public ...

Only 1 in 100 UK drivers believe that adding a pollution tax to diesel will improve the environment. With 4 out of 5 diesel drivers saying they have no choice but to drive the same mileage even with a speculative green tax added to their fuel bill. 98% of drivers believe such a tax hike would cost jobs, increase inflation and purely just raise extra cash for the Treasury. FairFuelUK, the UK’s leading and most successful protest group on road fuel pricing, is warning the government not to penalise diesel drivers with higher rates of fuel duty or cause a crash in secondhand values through misinformation.  There has to be a measured, practical and well informed response to the issues related to diesel emissions, the VW saga and its undoubted impact on the economy.

Lead Campaigner, Broadcaster and Journalist, Quentin Willson, says: ’ The UK’s 15 million diesel drivers shouldn’t be financially penalised because of a knee-jerk reaction to the recent VW emissions scandal.  We’re hearing rumours in Westminster that the Treasury could ...

Before Volkswagen is reduced to a smoking ruin buy a tsunami of media outragewe need to understand one seminal point: in the UK government, legislators, engineers and consumers have know that the current tailpipe emission and fuel efficiency testing regimes established by the EU have always been nonsense. We’ve all known they’ve been woefully inaccurate for years. Most ordinary motorists take official fuel economy figures with a huge pinch of salt and for years the media has been full of stories about real world fuel consumption being totally different from official figures. We know this is a fact of driving life. The righteous indignation we’re hearing in the UK now has a hollow ring. If we ...
