Another victory for FairFuelUK Supporters. The government's decision to trial motorway fuel price signage so consumers can get a better deal is something we've long been calling for. This year we demonstrated outside the OFT, presented a petition signed by FairFuelUK supporters and asked for a fuel price investigation including motorway pricing. Why, we asked, was petrol on motorways up to 10p per litre more than elsewhere? And why was there no obvious competition to help reduce prices between service stations on motorways? The industry claimed that increased fixed costs accounted for the differential but the similarity of prices between different operators on the same stretch of motorway seemed too close to be coincidental. The OFT flagged up this issue in their report and, at last, something is being done.

There's still much more to be achieved but at least we can say that pressure from you, our supporters, is genuinely making a difference that's reflected in real changes of government policy. Keep with us, because there's a lot more we can change together.
